"In 2018, probably our last ride of the season, we were at the CCC camp tacking up our horses. It was very misty and cold which added to the experience we had. We couldn’t even see across the road.
Just about as we were getting ready to put the bridles on, we heard this very loud noise. We had NO idea what it was. Hubby and I looked at each other. We untied the horses from the trailer because they were getting spooked. We thought that maybe a plane was coming down somewhere near us. But, being so foggy, we couldn’t see anything. It felt like it lasted forever. Probably 5 minutes? Not even sure if it was that long. It was quite frightening not knowing what it was.
Later, we found out that is was the 'flushing' of the gas line. I’m not sure that is the term for it.
We have talked about finding out the schedule for when those are. Had we been riding near the gas line, it would have been very dangerous because our horses were so spooked by it."
