Chandler Township Census Records 1880~1940
Emmet County played a part in Chandler Township's Charlevoix County formation in the 1880s. At that time, as stated on Wikipedia: "Resort Township and Springvale Township, Michigan were formed in 1880, but were at that time part of Charlevoix County. Those townships, along with Bear Creek, experienced numerous boundary changes. The now defunct townships of Bear Lake and Spring Lake were created out of portions of these townships. In 1897 [perhaps should be 1895? see below], the portions of these townships remaining in Emmet County were absorbed into Bear Creek and Springvale Townships." This means that where the Village of Springvale existed, was at one time a part of Springvale Township. Springvale Township is now totally within the boundaries of Emmet County. The location of the now non-existent Village of Springvale now lies totally in Chandler Township Charlevoix County MI.
Another source stated: " In 1895 the townships of Bear Creek and Resort and that portion of Springvale Township lying in T34N. R4W were detached from Charlevoix County and attached to Emmet County. The remaining portion of Springvale Township in T33N. R4W was attached to Chandler Township, Charlevoix County".
