When Micki Howard and Judy Gigante were doing Chandler Township Charlevoix County MI research in Lansing MI for the 1976 Bicentennial, they came upon an 1880 plat map. They hand drew and labeled the plat map below from the original which they had located.

About Jacob Lewis Reigle: Occupation: farmer, Justice of Peace. The History of the Traverse Region (Michigan), published in 1884 by H R Page & Co., page 220 "J L Reigle, Chandler Twp., Charlevoix Co. was born in Union Co, Pa. 7-10-1836, remained at home until 1865 when he moved to Three Rivers, Michigan & was engaged in farming until 1876 when he came to Chandler Twp., took up a homestead of 160 a. Has 70 a. cleared, has built a house & barn, planted an orchard & made other improvements. Enlisted 4/24/61 in 6th Pa. Res & served 2 yrs in Army of the Potomac. County Supervisor, 2yrs, Treas., 2yr"

On 6/28/1879 John Reigle was born to Jacob L. Reigle and Mary A. Reigle of Charlevoix County Michigan
Della Clark was listed on the 1900-1910 Chandler Township Census records. Della was the daughter of William & Sarah Clark, and the sibling of Carl, Bertha [Walton], Ethel, Maggie, and William. Della was not found on any other Chandler Township Census records. By 1940, the only Clark family members enumerated in Chandler Township were Carl and his wife Mable Townsend Clark; and Bertha's family as she had married Bert Walton.

In the 29 June 1892 The Petoskey Record it stated that for Commencement "The school year closed on Thursday evening and a small but excellent class was graduated. The exercises were held in the Grand Opera House." A total of four students with four years high school graduated: Adella Clark, Edith Petrie, Minnie Van Zolenberg, and Maggie White.

George and Mary Fetterly were enumerated on the 1910 and 1920 Chandler Township Census records. George was born in New York and Mary was born in Canada. In 1910 George and Mary's neighbors were the Tousleys and the Saunders.

The story below was written by Harriet L. Kilborn of Petoskey MI who was an historian of local information and stories. Her stories were gathered into a grouping titled "Pigeon Feathers". One of her stories titled "Ghost of Chandler Hill" was in regard to the Murder Case of Chandler Hill as noted in the 1883 Petoskey Record newspaper articles above. Harriet Kilborn's story collection can be viewed in its entirety in the Little Traverse Historical Museum at 100 Depot Street Petoskey MI. "Pigeon Feathers" includes other stories such as: "Passenger Pigeons Nest in Petoskey Area", "Harnessing the Bear", and "Hard Times on the Homesteads".
