Photo Below Left: Howard Wood worked for Western Union Telegraph Company “Overland Division” 6th floor Chicago. He worked there, and all over the West, until 1929. His wife Marion Mackie also worked there before they were married, as did their daughter Howardine Wood Bush from August to December of 1918. An original letter to Howard W. Wood, Morse Operator stated: "I am pleased to inform you that effective 11-1-1919 your compensation will be at the rate of $145.00 per month. Signed ETJones, Chief Operator." The photo below left shows Howard Wood with an "X" marked over his head as he was at work for the Western Union Telegraph Company in Chicago IL.
